SEEKING: Part-Time Development Strategist
Position Summary
Rose City Pride Bands is looking for a hands-on Part-Time Development Strategist to help us rebuild and grow our fundraising efforts. We’re excited to bring someone on who can help us take a thoughtful and intentional approach to our development.
This role is a key opportunity for a motivated professional to assess current practices, build a clear and actionable development strategy, and help position the organization for long-term financial sustainability. The Development Strategist will take ownership of designing a development plan and engaging our dedicated volunteer members to help execute fundraising initiatives.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both creating systems and hands-on implementation, and who is excited about empowering others to contribute to fundraising success. RCPB is looking for someone passionate about arts programming in Portland and supporting an LGBTQ+ organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development
- Assess current fundraising practices, tools, and donor engagement efforts
- Develop and document a clear, realistic development strategy aligned with organizational goals
- Establish fundraising priorities, timelines, and measurable targets
- Identify opportunities to diversify revenue streams (individual giving, grants, events, etc.)
Volunteer Engagement & Execution
- Identify opportunities to leverage volunteer members in development activities
- Provide guidance, tools, and structure to enable volunteers to effectively participate in fundraising
- Coordinate and support volunteer-led fundraising efforts and outreach
- Help build a culture of shared responsibility for development across the organization
Fundraising & Donor Support
- Manage donor communications, including acknowledgments, newsletters, and campaigns
- Participate in the building of a CRM to help track donors
- Support donor stewardship and relationship tracking
- Assist with annual giving campaigns and donor cultivation efforts
Grant & Research Support
- Conduct research on grant opportunities and prospective donors
- Assist with preparation of grant applications, reports, and supporting materials
- Maintain grant tracking systems and deadlines
Administrative & Operational Support
- Track fundraising progress and generate reports on key metrics
- Organize development-related systems, files, and processes
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen development operations
- Attend monthly board meetings (1hr) and bi-monthly working sessions (3 hr) to engage board members and get support for development plan.
Qualifications
- Experience in nonprofit development, fundraising
- Demonstrated ability in building or improving systems and strategies
- Experience working with or supporting, volunteers with the ability to motivate, guide, and collaborate with diverse contributors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to engage and coordinate volunteers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite; experience in Survey Monkey, Quickbooks or CRM systems a plus
Stipend
This role is paid with a stipend at $1000/month for an expected effort of 24-32/hrs per month. This position is funded through July 1st, 2027 with the hopes that a successful development plan could fund this position beyond that date.
