The Rose City Symphonic Band is a concert band centered around ensemble cohesion, tone quality, rhythmic clarity, and expressive style. Performing compelling literature in the Grade 3 and 4 range, the symphonic band offers a musically rich and rewarding environment for those looking to reconnect with their craft or continue to develop their artistry alongside a vibrant community of peers. Members are encouraged to try secondary instruments or explore new dimensions of their musicianship.
Debuting in 2025, the Rose City Symphonic Band is our first new ensemble in more than 30 years. The ensemble was named by member vote, and nods to our wind symphony’s previous name, the Portland Gay Symphonic Band. The symphonic band annually partners with local high school bands to support and inspire the next generation of musicians.
The Rose City Symphonic Band is under the direction of Craig Bunch and rehearses on Wednesday evenings in Portland. The ensemble’s season runs from August to June.
